Groundbreaking Ceremony
Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) Groundbreaking Ceremony
The groundbreaking ceremony for Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, known as Istanbul’s second airport, was held with great excitement and enthusiasm, welcoming both local and international guests.
Planned in two stages, the first part of the ceremony took place in Kurtköy at the construction site. On a sunny May day, approximately 5,000 guests attended the event and were treated to various refreshments following the ceremony.

In the evening, a formal dinner for protocol guests was held at Swissôtel.
The Swissôtel ballroom and its surroundings were specially designed to recreate an airport atmosphere. Upon arrival, guests completed a check-in process.
The foyer windows were covered with a special film, onto which aircraft visuals and announcements were projected, making guests feel as if they were actually at Sabiha Gökçen Airport.
Following the cocktail reception, the evening continued with dinner, protocol speeches, and an unforgettable concert by Fatih Erkoç.
This memorable event was entirely planned and delivered with Tourismo’s signature organization and attention to detail.
