Mustafa V. Koç Sports Awards
Inspired by the lifelong ideals of Mustafa V. Koç, who passionately believed in the unifying and transformative power of sports as an essential part of personal and societal development, the Mustafa V. Koç Sports Award was held for the seventh time in collaboration with the Turkish National Olympic Committee (TNOC).
With its enduring theme, “Contribution to Olympic Values,” this year’s ceremony took place on November 8, 2023, with the attendance of Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, members of the Koç Family, senior executives of Koç Holding and Koç Group, TNOC officials, and distinguished guests.
This year’s award was granted to national boxers Busenaz Sürmeneli and Buse Naz Çakıroğlu, in recognition of their outstanding achievements in a sport traditionally perceived as male-dominated. Their perseverance, discipline, and success not only raised the bar in boxing but also positioned them as inspiring role models—especially for young girls—through their leadership both in and beyond the world of sports.
With Erol Evgin’s legendary performance and the enchanting setting of the park, the night became an unforgettable experience for the people of Turgutreis.
